Full Sail Graduates Win at Latin GRAMMY Awards

WINTER PARK, FL: December 5, 2007 – Full Sail Real World Education (www.fullsail.com) is proud to congratulate graduate, Maria Gaucin on her recent Latin GRAMMY win for Best Tejano Album, as well as graduate, Sebastian Krys on his win for Producer of the Year.

Gaucin, a 2002 Recording Arts graduate, is a four-time Latin GRAMMY nominee. In 2005, Gaucin was nominated twice - one nomination with the band, “La Mafia” for Best Grupero Album, which won, and another with the band, “Los Palominos” for best Norteno Album. One year later in 2006, “La Mafia” was nominated once again for Best Tejano Album, which also won, and Gaucin took home her second Latin GRAMMY Award. Now most recently in 2007, Gaucin faced her fourth nomination with the band “Los Palominos” at the 8th Annual Latin GRAMMY Award show where she was awarded her third Latin GRAMMY in a row.

“Full Sail's qualified staff gave me the knowledge and the courage to follow my dreams and to achieve them. Full Sail laid the foundation for my success in this industry, from the long hours to the excitement of learning new equipment and techniques. My third GRAMMY win is just as exciting as my first. I'm thankful to be working in this industry, let alone be awarded for my work,” said Gaucin.

Krys, also a Recording Arts graduate, continues to succeed in the Latin pop and rock genres. To date, Krys has been nominated four times for Producer of the Year, four times for Album of the Year, three times for Record of the Year, and twice for the Best Engineered Album between the Latin GRAMMY’S and the GRAMMY’S combined. He has worked with an extensive list of top artists such as: Marc Anthony, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Mandy Moore, Gloria Estefan, Will Smith, Long Beach Dub All Stars with The Black Eyed Peas, Luis Fonsi, and many more.

“Full Sail gave me the tools to go into the marketplace and helped me to get my foot in the door of the music industry,” Krys said. Full Sail’s Program Director of Recording Arts, Bill Smith further added, “ To receive a GRAMMY Award is such a distinguished and incredible honor. We are tremendously proud of the remarkable success that these two graduates have individually achieved.”
